About LK Translations

My name is Lucy Krämer and I’ve been a freelance
translator and lucyklein bijsnijeditor since April 2014.

I provide translations from English to Dutch and vice versa. Websites, recipes, specialist literature – everything’s possible.

When it comes to editing, I mainly specialise in English texts written by non-native (mostly Dutch) speakers of English. For more about this, please see Editing and proofreading.

Examples of my work can be found in my portfolio.

Before I started as a freelancer, I studied English Language and Culture at the VU University Amsterdam (BA) and the Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen (MA). I spent the second year of my Bachelor’s degree as an Erasmus student at the University of Sheffield, England. I also have some teaching experience and am thus very much at home in the world of secondary education.

Besides translating and editing, I write practice exercises on English grammar for tutoring website snapput.nl and volunteer for ShelterBox Nederland as a Donations Administrator.

I enjoy reading, needlework, cooking and fine dining, and you will often find my husband and myself at our allotment on weekends.

ShelterBox provides emergency shelter and vital supplies to communities around the world overwhelmed by disaster and humanitarian crises. The revenues of several books I have worked on are donated to ShelterBox so they can continue to help large numbers of displaced families with immediate disaster relief.
